The purpose of the SBA 8a program is to make sure that individuals and their businesses are given fair opportunity to compete in America. Many small businesses are not afforded the same access to capital that other small businesses have due discrimination through stereotyping. This discrimination can either be pervasive or can merely be the lack of mainstream social networking groups. Therefore the SBA 8a program seeks to level the playing field by helping businesses that have owners that do not have the same access to capital because they do not blend in easily with the rest of the crowd.
